The article is devoted to a comprehensive theoretical analysis of the phenomenon of resilience as a key psychological resource for individual adaptation in conditions of wartime reality. The relevance of studying psychological resilience is highlighted in the context of prolonged and multidimensional exposure to stress-inducing factors caused by the full-scale war in Ukraine, which significantly transforms living conditions and increases the need for effective internal and external resources for self-preservation and mental health support. Resilience is considered a multidimensional dynamic process that integrates cognitive, emotional-regulatory, motivational, and social components, ensuring an individual’s ability to recover, maintain psychological well-being, functional stability, and personal growth despite experiencing traumatic events.

The paper generalizes contemporary international and domestic approaches to the conceptualization of resilience, analyzes the historical evolution of the concept, and outlines key trends in scientific research. Particular attention is paid to the importance of internal resources (self-regulation, optimism, cognitive flexibility) as well as external factors, including social support, cultural orientations, and value systems, which significantly influence the effectiveness of adaptation under conditions of extreme stress. The specificity of resilience manifestations in wartime and its role in the lives of various population groups, including military personnel, civilians, and forcibly displaced persons, is also highlighted.

It is concluded that resilience is a strategic resource for mental health, enabling the maintenance of functional capacity, overcoming the consequences of traumatic events, and forming new meanings in life. Theoretical generalizations provide a foundation for further empirical research and for the development of psychological support programs in wartime and post-war transformations.
